I wish Valentine’s Day was on a Saturday this year. I eat clean for all meals except on Saturday night. This night is cheat meal night in my house which means I get to eat the glorious sent down from heaven above Pictou County pizza. You do not know what that is? I feel bad for you. I never knew what it was either until I moved to Pictou County and I can officially say that no other pizza in the entire world will ever compare to it. Trust me.
So the cat is out of the bag, I love pizza! Oh and while we are at it, I love ice cream, chips and cake too! Doesn’t that Elmo cake on the left look delicious? Well it was! That’s right, I am human. My rule is I will eat clean 95% of the time as long as I can eat a combination of the above food on Saturday night. This helps keep me motivated to eat well all week. I do not forbid myself the food I love, I just eat it occasionally and in moderation. Eating the WHOLE big bag of chips or the WHOLE cake is probably not in your best interest.
If you restrict yourself from having food you love you will never be successful. Restricting yourself leads to overeating and binging which does not help you reach your fitness goals. Enjoy the “bad” food every once in a while and you will be a much happier person. Plus, have you ever been around someone that is on a restrictive diet? It is like the latest episode of The Walking Dead, not fun!
